Van Kampen Investments

Assignment: Van Kampen Investments wanted to reward and retain top
independent brokers who traditionally sold over two million dollars worth of Van
Kampen Mutual Funds
. Their initial intent was to provide a lifestyle magazine
dedicated to wealth with the feel of a coffee table book.

Solution: The Magazine Works team met with the client and proposed a different
creative approach. In a worsening economy, we suggested combining leisure
articles with some “news to use” so brokers would be able to protect their books of
affluent clients. We convinced the client to use illustration and higher production
values to create a special look.

Result: Independent brokers felt the Van Kampen team had done much more for
them than any of the competitors and the good will was reflected in the volume of
funds sold.
