Daimler Chrysler

Assignment: Daimler Chrysler awarded grants to six designers per year for
excellence. For the tenth and final year of the awards, the client wanted a coffee
table book to commemorate a gala event. A well-known firm had been engaged to
produce the book but the client was concerned when several critical deadlines
were missed.

Solution: The Magazine Works was hired and we suggested creating a resource for
those wishing to understand more about the design process and the different design
disciples. We hired writers known for their work in various areas like architecture,
industrial work, signage and typography. We collected a representative body of
each award recipients’ work, researched timelines and bibliographies.
In the final year the awards were given to thought leaders like Steve Jobs and
Daniel Patrick Moynihan. A fellow agency produced a companion DVD with live
interviews of the recipients and this was included in the back of the book inside the
slipcase.

Result: The client was overjoyed with the result and Princeton Architectural Press
was interested in reprinting the book for sale in their reference library.
